That is incorrect. On the last page of chapter 57 (which covers the stuff from this episode), he says, "So this is where even my red-leg will meet its end." and then brings down a big rock on his leg. In chapter 58 (also covered in this episode) Sanji comes after him and when he sees the missing leg he says, "Your own foot!!? You ate it!!?" and Zeff replies, "That's right."

Oh!!! been some time since I read the manga so forgot some stuff! though In the anime they revealed it during whole cake dunno why tho!
